Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution
  • four years of full-time experience in substance abuse treatment
  • current Texas Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor license or valid Qualified Credentialed Counselor credential
  • CPR and first aid certifications
  • valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • ability to work full-time Monday through Friday
  • willingness to adhere to facility policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • major coursework in Criminal Justice, Behavioral Science, or related field preferred
  • four years of full-time wage earning substance abuse treatment experience
  • current licensure as Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor by Texas Department of State Health Services or valid Qualified Credentialed Counselor credential
  • experience in therapeutic community environment preferred
  • experience supervising employees preferred
  • current CPR and first aid certifications
  • valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record unless waived

Job Duties

  • Assist in planning chemical dependency counseling programs
  • coordinate delivery of counseling services to offenders with histories of chemical use, abuse, or addiction
  • provide comprehensive evaluations using valid measurement tools to assess recovery needs and re-offense risk
  • participate in Individual Treatment Plan development based on comprehensive assessments and clinical interviews
  • provide counseling and recovery skills training
  • participate in offender orientation, educational and individual and process counseling groups
  • maintain a Therapeutic Community within the facility working closely with correctional staff
  • maintain offender and service records, compile data and submit reports
  • develop Individual Progress Summaries post-program reflecting participation and completion
  • submit reports to Parole Division for Parole Case Summary inclusion
