- Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification by NAED
- Certified Flight Communicator (CFC) through NACCS within 90 days of hire
- State of Missouri Class F Drivers license
- Safe driving record
- Three years experience in public safety emergency communication center
- One year field provider or teaching experience
- Ability to work in high-stress situations
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods
- Ability to mentally and physically react quickly
- Patience and emotional stability
- Proficiency with radio, CAD consoles, computers, telephone and other dispatch equipment
Job Qualifications
- Three years of experience in a public safety emergency communication center
- One year experience as a field provider or teaching experience
- Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certified by NAED
- Certified Flight Communicator (CFC) through NACCS within 90 days of hire
- State of Missouri Class F Drivers license with safe driving record
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of emergency telecommunications operations and regional streets/highways
- Skill in communications equipment operation and responding calmly in emergencies
- Ability to provide Dispatch Life Support (DLS)
- Proficiency with emergency and non-emergency call creation
- Preferred State of Missouri EMT or EMT-P license
- Preferred EMD-Q certification through NAED
- Preferred Operational Control Specialist (OCS) through NACCS
Job Duties
- Operate communication equipment to receive and relay emergency/non-emergency calls
- Determine location of incidents or requests
- Dispatch and track EMS units
- Provide Dispatch Life Support (DLS) and post-dispatch instructions when applicable
- Dispatch and coordinate flights of Life Line helicopters
- Maintain necessary documentation and records
- Relay operational information to field staff and supervisors
- Conduct shift briefings
- Perform clerical and administrative duties related to EMS Communication Center
- Act as primary preceptor for new EMDs
- Make operational decisions in absence of EMS Communications Supervisor
