Job Requirements

  • Must pass Illinois Food Handler Course within 60 days of hire
  • Must obtain and maintain valid food handlers permit
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to maintain proper food temperature and sanitation
  • Ability to work under time constraints
  • Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively
  • Must have basic mathematical skills
  • Must demonstrate CJE values in work behavior
  • Must maintain certification throughout employment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Two to three years related experience and/or training preferred
  • Knowledge of proper food handling, safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment proficiently
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Ability to follow recipes and portion controls
  • Good knife skills and knowledge of kitchen safety
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work area
