Job Requirements
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Previous experience as a line cook or in a similar culinary setting preferred
- Ability to communicate in English effectively
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work under pressure during busy periods
- Frequent walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, lifting
- Ability to manually handle 60 pounds
- Frequent hand washing
- Ability to work in extreme temperature conditions
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work in limited spaces
- Ability to maintain sanitation and safety standards
- Awareness of kitchen hazards and proper safety protocols
Job Qualifications
- Previous culinary experience preferred
- Culinary school or completion of apprenticeship program preferred
- Proven experience in higher volume and/or fine dining kitchens
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and written
- Ability to understand verbal directions, written menus, recipes, labels, and safety signage
- Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations
- Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment
- Ability to handle special orders and guest complaints professionally
- Demonstrated flexibility and positive attitude
- Basic understanding of food allergies and cross contamination
- Ability to work in a team environment
Job Duties
- Ensure that all mise en place is prepared for respective stations as well as proper forecasting of prep needs for assigned station
- Prepare food to be served complying with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards, following established food production programs and procedures
- Work closely with Executive Chef/Sous Chef to guarantee guests a dining experience which exceeds their expectations
- Prepare food products and execute dishes meeting the standards of Hotel Management and guests, ensuring coordination with meal hours for quality, temperature, and appearance
- Safely operate kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, steamers, mixers, and chef's knives
- Handle and communicate special orders and guest complaints professionally
- Maintain food safety, workstation and personal cleanliness, sanitation standards, and general maintenance of kitchen equipment
- Notify appropriate personnel in case of broken equipment or unsafe conditions
- Manually handle/lift products up to 60 pounds
- Demonstrate bilateral fine manipulation of both hands during the shift
- Remain vertically mobile working in limited space
- Protect the assets of the property and Migis Hotel Group
- Perform some supervisory responsibilities as required
