Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in sanitation and food safety with strong operational knowledge of GMP, sanitation, and environmental monitoring
  • minimum 3 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • HACCP, Food Defense, PCQI credentials required
  • bachelor's degree in food science, quality systems or equivalent experience preferred
  • prior experience in large baking facilities or food manufacturing preferred
  • intermediate computer software skills required
  • ability to collaborate with multiple functions and managers
  • proven critical thinking, team development, and leadership skills
  • ability to organize work and meet deadlines independently
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills with understanding of risk management
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to work in manufacturing environments including standing for extended periods and wearing PPE
  • capability to read and interpret safety rules and procedural documents
  • ability to speak effectively before groups
  • ability to troubleshoot under stressful conditions

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, quality systems, or equivalent experience
  • HACCP, Food Defense, PCQI certifications
  • 5 years of experience in sanitation and food safety operations
  • 3 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • experience within large baking or food manufacturing facilities preferred
  • strong computer software skills
  • exceptional critical thinking and leadership abilities
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • proven ability to collaborate effectively across organizational levels
  • knowledge of GMP and food safety regulations

Job Duties

  • Plans, develops, and directs the food safety program supporting company quality objectives, regulatory compliance, and budget management
  • makes recommendations to Bakery Operations Manager for production method adjustments to elevate food safety consistent with company policies
  • develops and reviews food safety and sanitation procedures, standards, and policies ensuring adherence to legal and labor regulations
  • serves as primary representative and subject matter expert for all regulatory inspections
  • oversees and maintains accurate documentation and records related to sanitation activities including cleaning schedules, inspection reports, training records, and compliance documentation
  • manages building maintenance related to sanitation, including pest control, under budget guidelines
  • hires, trains, and directs sanitation and receiving teams, coordinating routine and unexpected tasks
  • schedules and manages employees in compliance with company policy and laws
  • consults with management to maintain safe and effective operations
  • promotes and supports workplace safety and accident prevention
  • addresses safety concerns during job performance providing initial safe work method training
  • organizes and conducts all required food safety training
  • identifies root cause analysis and corrective action plans
  • performs other duties as assigned
  • adheres to and follows company core values
