Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of progressive hotel sales experience or equivalent education and experience
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Flexible to work long and irregular hours
  • Able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to evaluate and select alternatives quickly
  • Ability to handle stressful situations professionally
  • Initiative in job performance
  • Maintain composure and objectivity under pressure

  • Basic arithmetic and financial data understanding

Job Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of progressive hotel sales experience in a specific market
  • Or a 4-year college degree and at least 1 year of related experience
  • Or a 2-year college degree and 2 or more years of related experience
  • Must have a driver's license in the applicable state
  • College coursework in related field helpful

Job Duties

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented and professional manner
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality in compliance with Expotel Hospitality Service standards
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Comply at all times with Expotel Hospitality Service standards and regulations
  • Maintain a warm, friendly and professional demeanor at all times
  • Be attentive, helpful and courteous to all managers, guests and fellow employees
  • Maintain neat and organized workspaces
  • Develop a full working knowledge of hotel operations including Food and Beverage, Guest Services and Reservations
  • Develop complete knowledge of company sales policies, SOPs and relevant information to sell and answer questions
  • Meet or exceed set sales goals
  • Operate within established sales expense budget
  • Be familiar with sales policies and selling techniques with emphasis on maximizing occupancy and ADR
  • Book room business focusing on maximizing room revenue and average rate
  • Up sell rooms when possible
  • Enter reservations according to standard procedures and handle all special reservations
  • Book and block rooms using hotel standards for group rooming lists and booking agreements
  • Initiate leads, respond and direct all inquiry, sales, service and catering phone calls
  • Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program
  • Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate market trends
  • Regularly contact existing accounts based on account coverage program
  • Invite clients for entertainment, lunches, tours and site inspections
  • Conduct professional site inspections with clients
  • Abide by Prime Selling Time
  • Assist in implementing special promotions
  • Prepare required reports timely
  • Attend daily Business Review meetings with staff and General Manager
  • Respond to forwarded RFP leads timely
  • Maintain strong client relations and ensure successful meeting experiences
  • Monitor and manage room blocks according to contracts
  • Review sales contracts and validate with client
  • Monitor and enforce program deadlines
  • Answer incoming calls courteously
  • Maintain Trace File
  • Monitor social media sites
  • Perform other duties as requested
  • Develop networking opportunities through community and professional events
  • Review meeting planner evaluations and ensure follow-up
  • Contribute to annual sales and marketing plans, strategic revenue plans and budgets
