Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 8-10+ years experience with safety programs on civil construction projects
  • Minimum OSHA 10 certification
  • Experience implementing, monitoring, and managing safety for heavy civil construction projects
  • Experience in implementing Behavior-Based Safety programs
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • OSHA 30 certification

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 8-10+ years experience managing safety programs on civil construction projects
  • Experience implementing and managing safety for heavy civil construction
  • OSHA 10 certification required
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience implementing Behavior-Based Safety programs
  • Board of Certified Safety Professionals certifications preferred
  • Familiarity with transit agencies such as PANYNJ, NJT, MTA, LIRR, Amtrak
  • Experience with mega rail and transit projects
  • Training in incident investigations preferred
  • Tunneling experience a plus
  • Experience supporting or supervising safety professionals
  • Experience in Federal Transit Agency projects
  • Certified Safety Professional certification preferred
  • OSHA 500 certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Serve as the site safety lead for NJ Surface Alignment, oversee DB contractor and subcontractors safety compliance
  • Lead development of the safety culture for the program
  • Review DB contractor’s safety plans, permits, and submittals for regulatory compliance
  • Conduct and participate in project safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety standdowns
  • Interface with Gateway Development Commission’s Safety Executives and support corporate safety guidelines
  • Respond to, report, and investigate safety incidents 24/7 ensuring complete follow-through
  • Work with the safety team to develop and report daily safety observations
