Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must have one (1) year of prior Class B professional driving experience within the last five (5) years
  • Must have a clean driving record with no more than two (2) convictions, or two (2) at-fault accidents in the last three (3) years, or a combination of one (1) conviction and one (1) at-fault accident
  • In lieu of experience, may accept a diploma from accredited driving school or combination of driving and prior Airgas specific experience

Job Qualifications

  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License
  • Valid USDOT Medical Examiner's Certificate
  • Hazmat Endorsement (H or X Endorsement)
  • Ability to operate a vehicle with an air brake system (no air brake restrictions on CDL)
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to read and comprehend material data sheets
  • Prior experience in gas, welding and safety supply industries preferred
  • HS Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • May consider individuals with ability to acquire Hazmat Endorsement or skill to operate airbrake systems as a condition of employment

Job Duties

  • Safely load, deliver and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to customer locations
  • Collect empty cylinders or rejected or unsold merchandise
  • Return empty cylinders to either a plant or branch location for refilling
  • Provide timely communication to manager or customer's assigned Airgas sales associate regarding any changes or issues
  • Perform cylinder inspections per operating procedures
  • Maintain load manifests and all required vehicle documents ensuring compliance with safety standards and government regulations
  • Strictly observe all safety rules and report any accidents or injuries to management
  • Operate pallet jack, forklift and other warehouse equipment
  • Work in warehouse or on dock as needed
