The Luskin Conference Center (LCC) is a prominent academic meeting and conference destination located on the UCLA campus. Spanning 300,000 square feet across seven stories, the center features 254 guest rooms, approximately 25,000 square feet of versatile meeting space, a 160-seat restaurant known as Plateia, a fitness center, and a business center. Job Requirements

  • Candidate must be 18 years or older
  • completion of a satisfactory background check is required
  • completion of a Live Scan background check prior to employment
  • successful completion of a pre-placement physical examination
  • availability to work variable schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • must maintain professional and courteous behavior in all guest interactions
  • ability to use standard business and food service related software
  • must have reliable attendance and punctuality

Job Qualifications

  • One or more years of experience as a host or cashier in a full-service restaurant
  • ability to engage with diverse populations in a respectful and culturally responsive manner
  • ability to remain calm in the face of customer dissatisfaction
  • proficiency in written and verbal English communication
  • ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating workload
  • math skills sufficient for processing payment transactions
  • proficiency with standard business software and food service applications
  • skill in positive guest interaction using effective body language and professional demeanor
  • working knowledge of basic culinary techniques preferred
  • working knowledge of alcoholic beverages preferred

Job Duties

  • Greet guests warmly and professionally upon arrival
  • promptly seat guests in the restaurant, lounge, and bar areas
  • estimate wait times and manage the reservation and occupancy chart
  • answer telephone calls and take reservations accurately
  • communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management regarding large groups and guest feedback
  • maintain a calm and friendly demeanor in high-pressure situations
  • serve as the first point of contact encouraging guest loyalty and return visits
