Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year experience as a prep cook or similar role
  • Food Handlers certificate or Serv Safe equivalent within 30 days
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors as required
  • Must be detail-oriented and safety-minded

Job Qualifications

  • One year of experience as a prep cook or similar food service role
  • Proficiency in technology, writing, and reading
  • Strong people skills with professional and positive team interactions
  • Ability to take initiative and pride in work
  • Food Handlers certificate or Serv Safe equivalent within 30 days of employment
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds and stand for long periods
  • Detail-oriented, organized, safety-minded, trustworthy, and efficient
  • Ability to work indoors and occasionally outdoors, including hot ranges, walk-in freezers, and coolers

Job Duties

  • Manage all types of food and food products to prepare and present for dining customers
  • Follow Cornbread standard operating procedures to prep and prepare all hot and cold food to department of health and company standards
  • Perform basic cooking tasks such as stirring, straining, parboiling food and reducing sauces
  • Work as a team with management staff performing routine cleaning and basic upkeep of front and back of house
  • Perform general duties associated with setting up and breaking down kitchen stations to start or close a shift
  • Rotate, label, and date all food products to minimize waste and spoilage
  • Inform the Chef on Duty of any sub-par product before service
  • Maintain kitchen equipment in clean working order and report issues to leadership
  • Practice safe and clean work habits to avoid injury
  • Participate in staff training opportunities
  • Set up, operate, and clean dish machine
  • Scrape, rinse, and load dishes and utensils into dish machine
  • Wash and sanitize all pans, utensils, and dishes
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain dish machine
  • Unload dishes and utensils from dish machine and organize
  • Clean food prep stations and equipment
  • Empty garbage containers regularly
  • Sweep and mop
  • Remove trash from food services areas
  • Ensure compliance with department of health guidelines
  • Support kitchen teams in receiving and storing goods
  • Assist kitchen staff during peak times
  • Perform opening, closing, and side work
  • Perform additional cleaning duties as requested
