Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of relevant food service experience
  • Food handlers certificate or ability to obtain ServSafe equivalent within 30 days
  • Ability to lift heavy weights and perform standing and physical tasks
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen safety and hygiene practices
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • One year experience as a prep cook or similar role
  • Proficiency in technology, writing, and reading
  • Strong people skills with a proactive and professional approach
  • Ability to take ownership and pride in the work
  • Food Handlers certificate or ServSafe equivalent within 30 days
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds, operate carts and hand trucks, and stand for long periods
  • Detail-oriented, organized, safety-minded, trustworthy, and efficient
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors, including in hot kitchen environments

Job Duties

  • Manage all types of food and food products to prepare and present for dining customers
  • Follow Cornbread Standard Operating Procedures to prep and prepare hot and cold food to DOH and company standards
  • Perform basic cooking tasks such as stirring, straining, parboiling, and reducing sauces
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic upkeep of kitchen and front of house areas
  • Set up and break down stations throughout the kitchen and restaurant for shifts
  • Rotate, label, and date products to minimize waste and spoilage
  • Inform Chef on Duty of any sub-par product before service
  • Maintain kitchen equipment in clean working order and escalate issues
  • Practice safe and clean work habits
  • Participate in staff training opportunities
  • Set up, operate, and clean the dish machine
  • Scrape, rinse, and load dishes and utensils into the dish machine
  • Wash and sanitize pans, utensils, and dishes
  • Clean and maintain dish machine
  • Unload and organize dishes and utensils
  • Clean food prep stations and equipment
  • Empty garbage containers and move to designated areas
  • Sweep and mop food service areas
  • Ensure compliance with DOH guidelines
  • Support kitchen teams in receiving and storing goods
  • Assist kitchen staff during peak times
  • Perform opening, closing, and side work
  • Perform additional cleaning duties as requested
