Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • at least 1 year experience in food service or similar role
  • food handlers certificate or Serv Safe certification within 30 days
  • ability to lift 50+ lbs
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • willingness to work indoors and outdoors
  • ability to follow safety procedures and maintain cleanliness
  • good communication skills
  • ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • clean plates, flatware, pots, pans, equipment, and general kitchen areas
  • prepare, cook, and present a variety of food items accurately and efficiently for various meal periods
  • manage all types of food and food products to prepare and present for dining customers
  • follow Cornbread Standard Operating Procedures to prep/prepare hot and cold food to department and Cornbread standards
  • perform basic cooking tasks such as stirring, straining, parboiling food, reducing sauces, and measuring seasonings
  • perform routine cleaning and basic upkeep of front and back of house
  • set up and break down stations throughout kitchen and restaurant
  • rotate, label, and date all products to minimize waste
  • inform the Chef on Duty of any sub-par product
  • maintain all kitchen equipment in clean working order and report issues
  • practice safe and clean work habits
  • participate in staff training opportunities
  • set up, operate, and clean dish machine
  • scrape, rinse, and load dishes and utensils into dish machine
  • wash and sanitize all pans, utensils, and dishes
  • clean, sanitize, and maintain dish machine
  • unload and organize dishes and utensils
  • clean food prep stations and equipment
  • empty garbage containers regularly
  • sweep and mop kitchen floors
  • ensure compliance with Department of Health guidelines
  • support kitchen teams in receiving and storing goods
  • assist kitchen staff during peak times
  • perform opening, closing, and side work
  • perform additional cleaning duties as requested
