Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Driver's License and appropriate liability insurance if using a vehicle for business
- Obtain and maintain a food handler's permit
- Obtain and maintain a Food Service Manager certification
- Obtain Red Cross First Aid Certification
- Minimum two years prior food service experience
- Valid Corpus Christi/Nueces County Health Department Food Managers Permit at time of interview
- Minimum five years full-time experience in food preparation, purchasing, and inventory control
- Ability to handle and prepare all types of food items properly
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
- Maintain composure under stress
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Physically able to stand and walk for 7-8 hours
- Meet health and sanitation standards

Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Some college education in culinary arts, food service, and hospitality preferred but not required
- Valid Corpus Christi/Nueces County Health Department Food Managers Permit required at time of interview
- Two years of prior food service experience
- Minimum five years of full-time experience in food preparation, purchasing, planning, cost and inventory control
- Knowledge of food handling and sanitation requirements in food service operations
- Proficient communication skills both oral and written
- Ability to handle and prepare all types of food items properly
- Ability to operate general kitchen equipment and maintain equipment
- Ability to maintain composure in a stressful environment
- Experience in cooking and serving nutritious meals as specified by menus and standardized recipes
Job Duties
- Participate and oversee food preparation staff to prepare a variety of foods according to guidelines and recipes
- Ensure all dishes are completed timely and ready to serve according to recipe guidelines and schedule
- Maintain inventory and assist with ordering, receiving and managing food preparation supplies
- Complete routine records such as food stores, meal counts, work schedules, production records and temperature logs
- Direct and train staff to safely use kitchen utensils and equipment
- Safely operate kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers
- Direct cleaning and sanitizing of work areas, equipment, and utensils
- Lead and assist in the serving of meals including bag lunches and hold meals
- Receive and monitor kitchen deliveries ensuring proper food storage and rotation
- Maintain responsibility for all food appearance, taste and quality
- Monitor chow hall and food distribution and evaluate meals daily
- Administer first aid and CPR in emergencies when medical staff is absent
- Write detailed incident reports when necessary
- Maintain excellent customer service and treat staff with respect
- Report documented information related to inspections and meal counts
- Attend required training and comply with health and safety standards
