Job Requirements
- high school graduate or equivalent
- at least six months of work experience with customer service
- work experience in a medical reception setting preferred
- relevant training may substitute for experience
- previous telephone service experience preferred
- medical terminology knowledge preferred
- ability to pass competency tests in reception and telephone communication
- excellent organizational skills
- excellent communication skills
- excellent customer service skills
- ability to work with diverse patients
- ability to maintain professionalism with staff and public
- ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- knowledge of or willingness to learn HIPAA
- ability to use email and online medical systems
- ability to multitask and prioritize
- flexibility in assignments
- proficiency in taking messages with correct spelling
- keyboard use for much of the shift
- ability to sit or stand for three hours at a time
- ability to frequently bend and reach
- effective speaking and listening skills in person and via telephone
Job Qualifications

- minimum six months work experience in a setting requiring customer service skills
- previous experience in a medical reception setting preferred
- ability to pass competency tests in primary reception and telephone communication
- excellent organizational skills

- ability to work with diverse patient populations
- ability to work harmoniously with staff and public
- ability to act professionally with practitioner staff and employees
- knowledge of or ability to learn HIPAA requirements
- knowledge of and ability to use email
- ability to use or learn electronic medical records and scheduling systems

- flexibility in daily assignments

- ability to sit or stand for extended periods

Job Duties
- answer the telephone including backup for nurse and practitioner phone lines
- direct and check in patients and other customers properly
- schedule appointments
- answer general questions
- collect fees
- organize the desk
- maintain patient confidentiality
- use electronic medical record and appointment scheduling systems
- handle and prioritize multiple tasks appropriately
- take and relay messages accurately and timely
