Job Requirements

  • Experience with interlibrary loan systems and software
  • proficiency in using digital and library-related equipment
  • excellent communication skills
  • computer literacy and software proficiency
  • experience in academic library settings preferred
  • familiarity with parcel shipping software
  • tact and courtesy in public dealings
  • ability to work with materials in different languages
  • reading proficiency in a non-English language
  • collaborative experience with library units
  • research ability
  • organizational skills
  • ability to prioritize and compile accurate statistics
  • willingness to work Tuesday through Saturday including weekends
  • ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs
  • fully onsite work availability

Job Qualifications

  • Substantive, recent experience using ILL systems such as WorldshareILL or equivalent
  • demonstrated experience with scanners, microfilm readers, and library-related equipment
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • high computer literacy and proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro, Box, Microsoft 365 apps, Google Drive, and shipping software
  • recent ILL experience preferably in academic library settings
  • ability to work tactfully with the public and learn various automated systems
  • ability to read non-English languages
  • experience collaborating with multiple library units
  • research skills and ability to maintain library files and statistics
  • strong service orientation and organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Coordinate interlibrary loan services and compile statistics
  • process borrowing and lending requests using systems like Ex Libris Alma and OCLC
  • perform bibliographic checking and resolve citation issues
  • manage ILL policies, user accounts, and reciprocal agreements
  • oversee overdue and recall notifications
  • update borrowers on request status
  • train public services assistants for ILL tasks
  • operate circulation and reserve desk including weekend shifts
  • assist patrons with material location and retrieval
  • maintain Media Center collections and equipment
  • upload files to library-managed repositories
  • coordinate with security and physical plant staff on safety and maintenance
  • file loose-leaf materials
  • report operational events to management
  • perform additional related duties as assigned
