Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- pharmacy technician license or certification
- frequent balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, close visual acuity, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motion
- lifting and/or carrying up to 40 pounds
- occasional climbing, crawling, pulling, lifting
- pushing over 50 pounds
Job Qualifications
- Veterinary pharmacy experience
- previous experience in veterinary medicine
- attention to detail
- good verbal and written communication skills
- basic typing and computer skills
- must be available for weekend shifts
Job Duties
- Provide professional and courteous service to ensure highest levels of client satisfaction and patient treatment
- fill inpatient, outpatient, and refill prescriptions
- field questions from outside pharmacies regarding faxed prescriptions
- oversee VCA Home Delivery program Scriptright to ensure timely renewal of prescriptions
- be point person in hospital to sign up and discuss benefits of Home Delivery
- review medical records regarding refill requests
- advise clients regarding use of online pharmacies
- communicate with veterinarian about client questions or concerns regarding medications
- check phone messages, pet portals, and message center for pharmacy requests
- monitor pharmacy and refrigerator inventory and notify purchasing tech when low
- maintain client educational material displays
- maintain cleanliness of pharmacy area, supplies, and instruments
- call on prescription pick-ups weekly
- assist with quarterly inventory and purchasing
- work as a part-time receptionist assisting with checking in and check out
- assist with follow-up calls on patients
- answer phones and schedule appointments
- initiate client needs
- medical documentation
- provide excellent client service
- client education
