Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or associate degree with four years experience or high school diploma with six years experience
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must speak fluent English
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish if required by the contract
  • Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
  • Ability to pass Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process
  • Must have one of the following certifications: AFC, CFP, or ChFC
  • Valid driver license
  • Must comply with all security and contractual requirements
  • Ability to work collaboratively with military staff and leadership

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and work experience
  • Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) certification or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English
  • Ability to manage virtual counseling platforms
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with military financial programs and protocols

Job Duties

  • Provides personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families
  • Assists service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences
  • Develops and makes available informational financial materials to service members and families
  • Coordinates, publicizes and provides a wide variety of personal financial management classes/workshops across the military lifecycle
  • Responds to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars
  • Utilizes virtual counseling or electronic communication methods such as web-based, secure online chat, or video-based communications
  • Manages duty to warn situations according to Department of Defense protocol
  • Communicates with leadership and participates in supervision and training activities
  • Participates in quality improvement committees and other contract activities as assigned
