Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in sociology, psychology, or related field preferred
  • Prior hospital patient relations or comparable experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to communicate effectively and with sensitivity
  • Skills in mediation and conflict resolution
  • Good computer proficiency
  • Ability to work full time, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to handle challenging patient interactions calmly

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in sociology, psychology, or related human relations discipline preferred
  • Prior hospital patient relations or comparable experience may be considered
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and Medical Center service lines and chain of command preferred
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in problem solving, mediation and conflict resolution
  • Ability to deal calmly and effectively with emotionally charged situations
  • Sensitivity to a diverse and multicultural population
  • Good computer skills
  • Professional demeanor and commitment to patient satisfaction

Job Duties

  • Facilitates the resolution of problems and concerns voiced by patients and their family members regarding care rendered in the Medical Center
  • Provides follow-up to ensure patient satisfaction and documentation for further analysis to maintain and improve the quality of care in the institution
  • Ensures that all contact with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital staff are carried out in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Works with others in the department to promote a harmonious work environment
  • Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate
  • Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the Medical Center
  • Assists in compilation of monthly Patient Relations report
