Job Requirements

  • Formal culinary education strongly preferred
  • Proven experience as a pastry chef or baker
  • Extensive knowledge of baking and pastry-making techniques and equipment
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent time management abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
  • Knowledge of sanitation and food safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a pastry chef, baker or related role
  • Extensive knowledge of baking and pastry-making techniques, ingredients, and equipment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistent quality standards
  • In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles and food preparation standards
  • Strong leadership skills and an ability to provide clear instructions to other members of the pastry staff
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for teamwork
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings when necessary
  • Formal culinary education strongly preferred

Job Duties

  • Create and prepare a diverse range of high-quality bread, pastries, cakes, and desserts
  • Develop and execute creative, innovative pastries and desserts to enhance menus and appeal to customers
  • Meet with clients to discuss custom-made desserts and pastries for special occasions, such as weddings and birthdays
  • Identify staffing needs, and supervise and train new pastry assistants and bakers when necessary
  • Schedule culinary team members to plan and coordinate daily production schedules
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations regarding food handling and sanitation
  • Maintain inventory of baking ingredients and supplies, and place orders as needed
  • Stay updated on industry trends and new techniques in baking, incorporating them into menu development and production
  • Maintain a clean and organized bakery area, including equipment, utensils, and workstations
