Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • 3 months paramedic experience or completion of paramedic internship required
  • 1 year paramedic experience in EMS or Fire Department preferred
  • EMT-P - Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic required or Licensed Paramedic
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 90 days of hire required
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 60 days of hire required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Job Duties

  • Administers IV fluid without additives, saline flush, IV antibiotics, all IV medications excluding controlled and RSI medications
  • uses ACLS drugs including drips with barcode medication verification during administration
  • administers all IM and oral medications excluding controlled drugs
  • plans the care of the patient
  • completes accurate documentation in the electronic health record
  • provides consistent attention to airway, intake, elimination, sleep, rest, mobility and hygiene needs
  • applies antiembolic stockings and sequential compression devices
  • manages cervical collars
  • performs external defibrillation
  • applies nasal cannula or oxygen mask
  • inserts and removes oral airway
  • performs ultrasound-guided peripheral IV access
  • draws blood from ports
  • performs other duties as assigned by RN
