Job Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and physical examination
- Successful completion of all required background checks
- Provide current State of Florida Paramedic certificate upon application
- Provide current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider designation
- Valid Florida Driver License with Motor Vehicle Record meeting Alachua County policy
- Meet Florida Statutes 401.281 requirements for drivers
- Certification by Alachua County Medical Director within first month of employment
- Completion of department-sponsored sixteen-hour Emergency Vehicle Operator Course within first month
- Ability to lift and move more than 100 pounds
- Ability to work in physically demanding and hazardous environments
- This is a grant funded position with no guarantee of permanent employment
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Current State of Florida Paramedic certificate
- Designation as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider
- Valid Florida Driver License
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Technical knowledge of emergency medical equipment and procedures
- Experience in emergency medical services preferred
- Ability to follow technical instructions from physicians
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure emergency situations
Job Duties
- Responds to emergency and non-emergency medical calls including inter-facility transfers
- Leads ALS ambulance operations providing advanced life support and critical care
- Performs patient evaluations, triage, and administers emergency medical treatment under physician orders
- Supervises assigned driver and acts as a field training officer and preceptor for students
- Maintains compliance with safety protocols and Department Standard Operating Procedures
- Prepares and maintains detailed patient care and run reports
- Collaborates with healthcare and social service professionals to connect patients with resources and provide ongoing care
- Participates in community outreach, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives
