Job Description
Multnomah County's Department of Community Justice (DCJ) is a respected agency committed to enhancing community safety through positive change. Job Requirements
- Completion of twelfth grade or equivalent
- minimum of one year cooking experience in relevant food service setting
- possession of valid Oregon Food Handler's Card
- successful background check including criminal, civil, driving, military, educational and employment history
- ability to work variable hours and days on-call shifts
- able to lift weights up to 50-75 pounds and push/pull up to 200-400 pounds
- some positions may require valid driver’s license
- willingness to work in juvenile detention facility environment
- adherence to county policies and procedures
- strong commitment to workforce equity and diversity principles
Job Qualifications
- Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade
- one year of cooking experience in school lunch, restaurant, café/deli, catering, or institutional food service
- valid Oregon Food Handler's Card
- able to pass thorough background investigation
- excellent customer service skills
- strong teamwork and communication abilities
- organizational and time management skills
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- ability to use various cooking techniques
- experience or interest in culinary job training for youth
- ability to work flexible on-call shifts

Job Duties
- Prepare meals following recipes and production sheets including special dietary needs
- operate baking, broiling, frying, and steaming cooking methods
- clean, trim, cut, and prepare meats, fruits, and vegetables
- assist with culinary job training for youth using approved curricula
- receive food orders, equipment, and supplies and rotate inventory
- assist with nutrition and administrative report preparation and record maintenance
- prepare meals for catering events including assembly, decorating, loading, and delivery
- prepare meals for the Courtyard Café including hot entrees and grab-n-go items
- implement USDA Standard Operating Procedures and Food Service Food Safety Plan
- maintain cleanliness and sanitation according to guidelines
