Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid standard driver's license (Class C) with an excellent driving record
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in driving and/or route management
  • Ability to obtain and retain a valid Medical Examiner Card (MED)
  • Sufficient English reading and speaking skills to comply with federal transportation regulations
  • Capable of performing physical tasks such as loading and unloading waste and equipment
  • Willingness to adhere to company policies and safety regulations
  • Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Available to work early morning shifts (3am to 5am starts) on a 4X10 schedule with no weekends

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 6 months of driving and route management experience preferably in shred/box trucks
  • Valid Class C driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Medical Examiner Card (MED)
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local waste transport regulations
  • Good communication skills to provide excellent customer service and report issues
  • Ability to operate routing software and electronic logging devices
  • Proficient in English to understand road signs, respond to inquiries, and complete reports
  • Physically fit for loading and unloading trucks and performing vehicle inspections

Job Duties

  • Manages assigned routes ensuring customers' waste is picked up in a safe, timely, and accurate manner
  • Pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations
  • Plans daily schedule based on customers' needs by reviewing daily paperwork such as manifests and route sheets provided by Transportation Manager/Supervisor or Dispatcher
  • Follows routing software route schedule
  • Prepares and loads trucks to service select accounts for the day ensuring supplies are adequate
  • Unloads trucks at various Stericycle and customer sites and secures waste
  • Picks up specified waste from each customer site scheduled for the day
  • Ensures customers have packaged and prepared waste properly before transporting
  • Provides the highest level of customer service, communicates issues to management for resolution
  • Secures waste, supplies, and equipment prior to operating vehicle
  • Completes assigned paperwork accurately and returns to supervisor or dispatcher
  • Completes DOT Driver Log if applicable
  • Communicates with Transportation Supervisor or Dispatcher regarding route changes
  • Ensures employee covering route is aware of any unusual situations
  • Reports problems with accounts before close of business each day
  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip vehicle maintenance
  • Reports maintenance issues
  • Uses ELD and Geotab to log hours per DOT guidelines
  • Performs other duties as needed
