Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • At least 6 months verifiable experience operating a commercial motor vehicle on public roads within the past 3 years
  • Must have one valid driver’s license free of restrictions issued by the state of residence
  • License transfer completed within 30 days if not issued by state of residence
  • Ability to lift up to 65 pounds and move pallets or carts with mechanical assistance
  • Compliance with DOT regulations including current driver’s license and medical card
  • Must pass random drug tests
  • Ability to manage time off to comply with DOT regulations
  • Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Ability to work in multi-temperature environments including freezer temperatures
  • Must maintain an acceptable MVR in compliance with DOT requirements
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to perform duties
  • Ability to travel up to 5 percent of the job for visits and conferences

Job Duties

  • Make safe, timely deliveries
  • Operate the commercial vehicle in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) as well as all local, state and federal requirements
  • Unload and put away product at restaurants
  • Assist in unloading the truck and putting away equipment at the distribution center upon return
  • Collaborate with team leaders before and after trips to assess unload time, delivery issues, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Build relationships with restaurant operators to learn about best practices
  • Keep vehicle clean and report maintenance issues
  • Comply with all regulatory and company policy requirements including operating within hours of service limits, performing pre- and post-trip equipment inspections, routine audits of vehicle documents, and safe food transport measures
  • Attend scheduled safety and job training sessions
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions at delivery locations
  • Report defects, accidents, or violations in accordance with DOT regulations and company policy
  • Complete routes within established delivery windows
  • Complete all pickups and returns and properly submit paperwork
  • Frequently lift heavy items and move pallets or carts with mechanical assistance
  • Perform work in all weather conditions and maintain compliance with DOT requirements
  • Manage time off to ensure proper rest
  • Maintain a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Prepare for shifts to rotate
  • Work in a multi-temperature environment
  • Act as a navigator/helper to CDL-A drivers when required
  • Adapt to change and respond professionally to difficult situations
  • Manage pressure and prioritize tasks
  • Other duties as assigned
