Job Requirements
- Associate degree in automotive, technical studies, or related field or one year relevant experience
- Or high school diploma or GED and three years relevant experience
- Must maintain current SD driver’s license, proof of insurance, and clean driving record
- GSA Safety Driving Certification
- BLS Certification preferred or must obtain within 6 months of employment
- Must pass criminal and background check
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
- Compliance with employee health procedures including all required immunizations
- Must respond to on-call shifts within 60 minutes
Job Qualifications
- Associate degree in automotive, technical studies, or related field preferred
- High school diploma or GED required with relevant experience
- Current SD driver’s license and clean driving record
- GSA Safety Driving Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or to be obtained within 6 months
- Experience with vehicle maintenance and minor repairs
- Ability to perform custodial and cleaning duties in a healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of safety and hygiene standards
- Good communication and reporting skills
Job Duties
- Operates vehicles to transport patients, personnel, and supplies to designated locations and maintains cleanliness of vehicles
- Ensures passenger comfort and safety as well as the safety of lab specimens and supplies during transport
- Follows all motor vehicle safety guidelines, regulations, and traffic laws
- Performs vehicle preventive maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, and inspections
- Examines vehicles and equipment before and after use to identify malfunctions and performs minor repairs
- Completes trip reports, accident forms, and tracks vehicle mileage
- Conducts custodial duties including cleaning floors, patient care areas, offices, bathrooms, and other assigned areas using antiseptic techniques
- Operates cleaning equipment and applies floor sealers and polishers
- Handles infectious waste and soiled linens safely and follows isolation cleaning procedures
- Maintains activity logs and reports repair needs to appropriate personnel
- Adheres to all fire, safety, and security rules and ensures safe storage of materials and equipment
