Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 10 years of field experience in mechanical construction
  • knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in industrial construction
  • ability to lead and manage a team of pipe fitters, plumbers, welders, and apprentices
  • competency in Permit Required Confined Space
  • appropriate state certification or license
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • strong attention to detail and quality
  • good documentation and record keeping skills
  • effective communication and leadership abilities

Job Duties

  • Regular attendance at assigned location
  • act as a team leader in the execution of mechanical work safely and with the objective of constructing a best in class product
  • oversee and audit site safety and quality control programs
  • coordinate interface between project management and site operation participants
  • oversee and coordinate any Sub-Contractors work under the Mechanical Division
  • confirm design intent with architectural, engineering, and consultants
  • coordinate field trade activities with project schedules
  • attend trade contractor weekly coordination meetings
  • coordinate equipment and material deliveries and staging
  • assist with scheduled shutdowns to support on-site operational requirements
  • support constructability and value management analysis
  • assess trade contractor earned value status with management team
  • maintain project as-built documentation and site drawings
  • establish work completion and punch lists
  • ensure installation compliance with technical specifications and submittals
  • support interface with client representatives
  • complete superintendent project control requirements
  • support field investigation and issue resolution
  • support field close-out, commissioning, and validation
  • ensure availability of equipment and materials
  • supervise and participate in installations of various piping systems
  • work with multiple materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, plastics, fiberglass, and copper
  • perform layout and develop isometric drawings
  • understand constructability for pre-fabricated piping systems
  • measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe
  • locate and mark pipe installation positions
  • test pipes and fixtures for leaks
  • assemble pipe sections and fittings
  • perform proper fit-up for welding
  • install pipe assemblies and fixtures
  • detect equipment faults and notify supervisors
  • direct helpers or apprentices
  • read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • maintain strict adherence to safety rules and quality
  • ensure proper site housekeeping
  • interact courteously with co-workers
  • perform additional duties as directed by management
