- Ability to follow specific or general verbal and written instructions
- knowledge of safety procedures
- may require basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, painting, mechanics, landscaping, and use of hand and power tools
- ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor for extended periods
- ability to lift and work with equipment
- may require knowledge of traffic sign placement and lane markings
- ability to operate light equipment

Job Duties
- Assists in setting forms, mixing and pouring concrete, spreading and laying asphalt, and spreading crack seal for sidewalk, curb, gutter, and street repairs
- operates air and jack hammers to break old concrete or asphalt
- assists in laying pipes for storm and sanitary sewers, drains, or water mains
- loads and unloads tools, construction materials, and equipment onto trucks
- flags traffic and sets safety barricades or cones
- digs ditches and trenches, cleans and grades, trims and removes vegetation
- assists in cleaning drainage ditches, inlets, storm drains, and sewer lines using power equipment
- drives dump trucks, tractors, and other equipment to transport supplies
- performs preventive maintenance on equipment
- maintains grass, removes litter and weeds, cleans facility grounds
- performs facility safety inspections including fire extinguisher checks
- performs additional assigned duties as needed
