Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must hold a current, valid Commercial Drivers License (class A) with hazardous materials endorsement
  • Must be willing to work in warehouse and yard with minimal driving initially
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must maintain a good driving record
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs
  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods
  • Must be able to reach overhead and handle objects for extended periods
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch
  • Must be able to install and remove tire chains weighing up to 60 pounds
  • Must be able to push or pull freight up to 4000 pounds with a pallet jack
  • Must be able to reposition a 3500 pound dolly on uneven surfaces
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test and background check

Job Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Ability to read and interpret hazardous materials shipping regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions effectively
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Must have current, valid Commercial Drivers License (class A) with hazardous materials endorsement
  • May be required to obtain doubles endorsement
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a good driving record

Job Duties

  • Drives vehicle to specified destination in accordance with company procedures and governmental regulations
  • Applies knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds and in difficult situations such as heavy traffic or inclement weather
  • Maintains telephone or radio contact with dispatcher to receive pick-up or delivery instructions
  • Loads and unloads trailer with or without mechanical freight-handling equipment
  • Ensures load is secure using cargo straps, tarps, ropes, chains, lumber and other tools
  • Hooks and unhooks trailers from tractor or from converter dollies
  • Inspects tractor or truck for defects before, during and after trips and submits condition reports
  • Ensures that all shipping documents required to move shipment are available and complete
  • Maintains records including driver logs, vehicle inspections and reports
  • Reports safety hazards, accidents, or on-the-job injuries immediately to supervisor
