Job Requirements

  • Ability to move up to 200 pounds using proper equipment
  • Ability to independently move up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to use proper lifting techniques
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions including manual dexterity, grasping, reaching, bending, and/or feeling
  • Ability to sit for long periods in a vehicle
  • Strong body coordination and equilibrium
  • Strong core strength
  • Clean driving record preferred
  • Valid medical card preferred
  • Forklift certification preferred
  • Air brake adjustment certification preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-2 years driving Class A vehicles required
  • Valid Class A CDL with double endorsement and hazardous material certification required
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to the position
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to read schedules, maps, hazardous materials documents, and other paperwork
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely

Job Duties

  • Transport freight over-the-road within the state in all weather
  • Load and unload vehicles including blocking loads on flatbeds
  • Strap and chain loads on flatbeds
  • Hook and unhook trailers
  • Placard trailers
  • Process paperwork related to freight, log books, DVIR, and ELDs
  • Assist customers regarding freight in a polite and professional manner
  • Adhere to Span/MSTS safety and fit for duty policies and DOT regulations
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle such as gas, oil, coolant, tires, lights, and brakes
  • Perform minor vehicle maintenance, emergency repairs, and cleaning
  • Make en-route deliveries as requested
  • Assist coworkers and other departments as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned
