Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler’s Permit
  • State sanitation certificate
  • 3-4 years of experience in advanced food service and cooking
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment operation
  • Intermediate to advanced knife skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to read and follow recipes unaided
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Dependability and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work flexible hours including holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Standing for extended periods
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation protocols
  • Good physical stamina
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler’s Permit
  • Training in Servsafe beneficial
  • State sanitation certificate
  • 3-4 years of related advanced food service and cooking experience desired
  • Experience with basic kitchen equipment operation preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced knife skills
  • Extensive working knowledge of kitchen environment and food preparation
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow recipes independently
  • Basic computer skills
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, organized with good follow-through
  • Ability to work within policies with limited supervision
  • Patience and compassion for senior adults
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, preparation, and serving principles
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some holidays

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook to order foods requiring short to mid-level preparation time
  • Operate a grill station and prepare food for a la carte service
  • Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and serving various food items
  • Use kitchen equipment for measuring, mixing, and food preparation tasks
  • Taste products and estimate food requirements while maintaining production records
  • Attend allergy and foodborne illness training and apply food safety principles
  • Receive inventory, handle foodstuffs safely, and prepare meals for special diets
  • Record and adjust temperatures
  • Complete all prep items and plate food with attention to appearance
  • Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of serving lines
  • Adhere to safety and risk management policies and participate in safety training
  • Attend designated training programs
