Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler’s Permit
  • State sanitation certificate
  • 3-4 years of related food service and cooking experience desired
  • Basic operation of kitchen equipment
  • Intermediate to advanced knife skills
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions

Job Qualifications

  • Training in Servsafe is beneficial
  • State sanitation certificate
  • 3-4 years of related and advanced food service and cooking experience desired
  • Experience with basic operation of kitchen equipment preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced knife skills
  • Extensive knowledge of kitchen environment and food preparation
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to read and follow recipes and safety instructions unsupervised
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work cordially with residents and staff
  • Dependable, detail oriented, and organized
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and functions
  • Calm under emergency situations
  • Patience and compassion towards senior adults

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook to order foods requiring short to mid-level preparation time
  • Prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte and operate a grill station
  • Ensure food preparation complies with federal, state, and corporate standards
  • Read and follow food orders and verbal instructions accurately
  • Provide high-quality service to customers
  • Use various kitchen equipment to prepare ingredients including washing, peeling, cutting, and trimming
  • Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records
  • Attend allergy and foodborne illness training and apply food safety principles
  • Receive inventory, move and lift foodstuffs, and prepare meals for special diets
  • Produce batch goods using basic and advanced cooking techniques
  • Take and record food temperatures and correct discrepancies
  • Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment
  • Assist with setup and cleanup of serving lines and food areas
  • Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures
  • Participate in safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments
  • Attend designated training programs
