The role of a Cook at Sizzler plays a critical function in ensuring guest satisfaction by preparing and cooking meals in a timely manner while adhering strictly to Sizzler's quality standards. The cook is responsible for washing, cutting, and preparing various food items including vegetables, fruits, meats, fish, poultry, and seafood. This position entails measuring and mixing ingredients according to standard recipes, preparing plated menu items, assisting with food production planning, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas. Additionally, the cook supports receiving and proper storage of shipments and must always promote and help uphold a safe working environment for both guests and staff. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 months related experience or training or equivalent combinations of education and experience
  • Possess a current California Food Handlers Card
  • Ability to comprehend simple instructions and understand measurements
  • Ability to read recipes
  • Ability to speak and understand English both written and verbally
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
  • Ability to stand, use hands, talk, and hear regularly
  • Ability to stoop, kneel or crouch occasionally
  • Ability to frequently lift, pull, and push up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work in environments with machinery, sharp objects, open flames, and varying temperature and humidity conditions
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented setting and adapt to frequent changes

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Wash, cut and/or cook vegetables, fruit, meat, fish, poultry and/or seafood to prepare for use
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes to prepare menu items
  • Prepare plates to be served by placing appropriate menu items on plate
  • Use prep lists to determine production for the day
  • Complete all responsibilities of assigned position in accordance with company standards
  • Promote, establish, and maintain a safe environment for all guests and team members
  • Assist with receiving and storing all orders properly as needed
  • Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the restaurant
  • Work in other and/or multiple departments besides primary job code as assigned
  • Participate in special projects or assist with other work necessary to company operations
