Los Angeles, CA, USA

Sizzler is a well-established American restaurant chain renowned for its diverse menu offerings, including steaks, seafood, and an extensive salad bar. Founded in 1958 by Del and Helen Johnson in Culver City, California, Sizzler has grown significantly in the casual dining sector.

The restaurant's signature feature is its all-you-can-eat salad bar, boasting a variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, and toppings. This allows guests to customize their salads to their liking and complements a menu that includes hand-cut U.S.D.A. Choice tri-tip steaks, fresh burgers, and fresh salmon and trout.

Over the years, Sizzler has adapted to changing consumer preferences. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the chain expanded to include a full buffet called the "Buffet Court" in response to competition. However, this affected the quality of other menu items and the brand's reputation.

To address these challenges, Sizzler refocused on core offerings, emphasizing quality in steaks, seafood, and the salad bar. In September 2020, Sizzler USA filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy due to the COVID-19 pandemic's effects, including temporary closures and financial difficulties.

The company emerged from bankruptcy in January 2023, signaling recovery and revitalization. As of July 2025, Sizzler operates approximately 74 locations across the United States, with a significant concentration in California.
