Job Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience
  • Ability to follow established meal serving schedules and procedures
  • Must use proper safety and sanitation techniques
  • Ability to lead shift huddles and delegate tasks
  • Strong organizational skills to create and maintain cleaning schedules
  • Good communication skills to interact with residents and staff
  • Flexibility to accommodate resident requests and handle complaints
  • Capability to oversee dining room set-up and ensure task completion
  • Skill to train new staff and monitor performance

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience preferred
  • Ability to work well with residents and team members
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to train and guide staff effectively

Job Duties

  • Serves meals and ensures that the dining area is clean and inviting
  • Follows meal serving schedule and procedures
  • Offers resident meal choices and meets resident's specific dietary needs
  • Uses proper safety and sanitation techniques
  • Helps lead shift huddles for each meal
  • Outlines and delegates daily cleaning and production tasks for the Culinary Assistants as needed
  • Creates dining room cleaning schedules and procedures and ensures their completion
  • Ensures all dishes (including flatware, drinkware, etc.) are washed, sanitized, and put away before end of shift
  • Promotes and encourages positive resident relations and satisfaction
  • Welcomes residents and initiates conversation
  • Accommodates tenant/resident requests such as requests for food substitution, change in seating, etc.
  • Listens to complaints and responds appropriately
  • Refers issues to Culinary Director as appropriate
  • Provides support and direction to Culinary Assistants
  • Oversees proper procedures for dining room set-up for daily meals and special events
  • Checks the daily task sheets for completion
  • Refers any incomplete tasks to the Chef/Culinary Director
  • Schedules Culinary Assistants
  • Identifies Culinary Assistant performance issues and communicates them to Culinary Director
  • Trains new staff on proper procedures
  • Assists in completing the onboarding and orientation checklists for newly hired Culinary Assistants
  • Listens to complaints and responds appropriately
  • Refers issues to Culinary Director and Executive Director as appropriate
