Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • strong team leadership
  • previous experience in food service preparation, preferably in a school or institutional setting
  • Serve Safe certified preferred or willing to take the course
  • excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
  • proficiency in using kitchen equipment and technology
  • ability to work well with students, staff, and parents
  • must pass background checks and health screening as required by the law
  • ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and occasional evenings and weekends
  • willing to take additional classes in school nutrition offered by SNAM
  • creativity and a collaborative spirit

Job Duties

  • Participate in ongoing training on food safety and operational procedures
  • collaborate with the Food Service Manager to plan and prepare balanced, nutritious menus that meet dietary guidelines
  • ensure meals are prepared in accordance with standardized recipes and portion sizes
  • prepare special dietary needs and accommodate food allergies or preferences
  • assist in inventory control, including ordering, receiving and storing food and supplies
  • ensure all food safety and sanitation standards are met, including proper storage, handling, and preparation of food
  • maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
  • prepare daily food production records
  • perform other duties as assigned
