Job Requirements
- Must have experience in institutional or food service setting preferred
- Must have knowledge of food preparation and kitchen sanitation procedures
- Must be knowledgeable about health and safety laws preferred
- Must be able to prepare special dietary foods including vegetarian options
- Must have ServSafe Food Handler Certification preferred
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds
- Must become a member of Girl Scouts
- Must believe in and support the mission and values of Girl Scouts
- Must be willing to subscribe to the Girl Scout Promise and Law
- Must be aware of youth needs in a pluralistic society
- Must pass State and National background checks
- Must have or be willing to obtain certification in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
Job Qualifications
- Experience in institutional or food service setting preferred
- Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving, storage of food, and kitchen sanitation procedures
- Knowledge of current health and safety laws and practices preferred
- Experience in preparation of special dietary foods, including vegetarian foods preferred
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification preferred
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, including unloading food, supplies, and equipment as needed
- Must become a member of Girl Scouts
- Must have belief in and/or ability to speak with conviction about the mission and values of Girl Scouts
- Must be willing to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law
- Must be aware of the needs of youth in a pluralistic society
- Must be able to pass State and National background checks
- Current certification in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED or willingness to obtain
Job Duties
- Assist in the daily operations of the camp food service
- Assist in the preparation of food as the menu indicates, including washing and peeling
- Set up food, supplies, and utensils for dining hall distribution
- Assist with daily inventory of supplies needed for meals for the following day
- Clean and maintain all food-preparation and storage areas
- Wash all dishes, serving and preparation equipment, and utensils according to regulated washing methods and temperatures
- Operate the kitchen in accordance with Serv-Safe regulations and State of Michigan guidelines
- Reduce waste, reuse items, and recycle as indicated through the camp's procedures
- Assist in the preparation and packaging of food for use outside the camp dining hall
- Advise staff on equipment or preparation materials needed for identified menu choices
- Take initiative to ensure a great summer camp experience for all
- Perform other duties as assigned
