Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in sushi preparation or Japanese cuisine
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen hygiene
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to follow recipes and presentation guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience in meal preparation within the food service or restaurant industry, specifically in sushi or Japanese cuisine
  • Familiarity with various cooking techniques, food preparation methods, and kitchen equipment
  • Strong knowledge of food safety practices and health regulations
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also demonstrating independence when necessary
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Job Duties

  • Prepare and present sushi dishes according to restaurant standards and recipes
  • Ensure all food items are fresh, properly stored, and handled in accordance with health and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to plan menus and create innovative sushi offerings
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including workstations and equipment
  • Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels of ingredients and supplies
  • Provide training and support to junior kitchen staff as needed
  • Stay updated on food trends and techniques to continually enhance menu offerings
