This position is located within the Environmental Management Services (EMS) department of a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center. Job Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
- Subject to background and security investigation
- Pre-employment physical required

Job Qualifications
- Evidence of training or experience sufficient to perform housekeeping duties
- Ability to lead or supervise a team
- Experience managing human resources
- Project management skills
- Stamina to perform physical work
- Ability to teach others and provide training
- Experience working in a healthcare or similar environment preferred
Job Duties
- Lead three or more employees in performing housekeeping duties while performing full range of tasks
- Communicate instructions from supervisor to employees and validate completion of assigned work
- Coordinate projects with nurses and area supervisors to ensure timely completion
- Set pace of tasks, demonstrate cleaning methods and provide direction on proper use of supplies and equipment
- Ensure all tasks are completed and deadlines met
- Engage employees providing purpose, direction, motivation, and training on procedures and safety
- Report employee progress to supervisor and recommend actions as necessary
- Perform full range of housekeeping duties including cleaning patient areas, clinics, laboratories, and other medical center areas
- Manage textile distribution, inventory, uniform management, and Patient Assistance Program
- Identify and recommend remedial training for employees
- Move furniture and set up rooms for meetings or events
- Scrub, strip, refinish, and polish floors using hand-operated and industrial equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned
