Job Description

The House Director position is a critical leadership role within a residential fraternity housing environment, responsible for the comprehensive management of the house’s operations. This includes overseeing daily maintenance, ensuring cleanliness, managing food service, and upholding the safety and security protocols that protect residents and staff. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in house management or property management preferred
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and scanning technology
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Minimal local travel
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Must reside on-site during collegiate occupancy
  • Physical ability for continual standing and walking, and occasional bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Ensure a safe and productive environment for collegians and staff including walking the property inside and outside
  • Respond appropriately during all emergency situations and contact appropriate parties
  • Create a strategy for the long-term care and upkeep of the facility for the House Corporation Board
  • Obtain detailed estimates for all work to be completed on the House
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance repairs including roof, HVAC, security system, sprinkler system, plumbing and electrical
  • Communicate maintenance issues to the House Corporation Board and coordinate routine maintenance in a timely manner
  • Manage employees including hiring, performance evaluations, payroll approval, and employee relations
  • Manage multiple preferred service providers ensuring budget compliance
  • Remain with all visitors at all times including service providers
  • Keep the House Corporation informed of inspections by insurance adjusters, fire department, and government agencies
  • Assist with fire drills and required inspections seeking out any damage
  • Communicate unusual trends or problems with the chapter to the Chapter Advisor
  • Open and close the House before and after each academic break
  • Review and process invoices timely per Accounts Payable guidelines
  • Upload receipts and provide expense descriptions with appropriate account codes
  • Reside in the chapter house each night collegians are in residence
  • Adhere to university, House Corporation Board, Office of Housing and chapter policies and rules
