Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a hotel restaurant or free-standing restaurant
  • knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • able to maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code standards
  • keen interest in New York's restaurant and dining scene
  • friendly and outgoing personality
  • confident, poised, and gracious at all times
  • guest-focused with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • standing for long periods of time

Job Qualifications

  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • OpenTable experience is a plus

Job Duties

  • Greet guests promptly and courteously with eye contact, a smile, and excellent engagement
  • maintain an efficient operation of the dining room ensuring excellence in quality, professionalism, and sociability
  • look after all aspects of guest arrival including coat check, seating, and making guests comfortable
  • manage the restaurant reservations system
  • take note of special preferences of guests and update guest history
  • follow restaurant-specific standard operating procedures
  • interact professionally with servers, bartenders, and managers
  • handle and print menus including explanations and communication of menu items
  • assist with day-to-day operation of the front and back of house relating to reception desk activities
