Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cooking experience required
- Experience in staff or volunteer management preferred
- Current CPR/First aid certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Food Handler's card or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Must be over 21 years of age
Job Qualifications
- A good example for youth and have a servant's heart
- Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church
- Previous cooking experience
- Previous experience in staff management
- Commitment to the mission and values of Agape Service Project
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work well with and lead a wide range of ages, from youth to adults, and peers
- Passion for social justice and desire to build community with local farmworker families
- Ability to work under pressure in time constraints
- Must be able to lift, unload, move food and supplies at least 25 pounds
- Current CPR/First aid and Food Handlers certificates required or willingness to obtain prior to season
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends
- Must be over 21 years of age
Job Duties
- Work with the Agape team to accomplish the program mission and goals
- Build relationships while working with and serving the farmworker families, fellow staff, youth, adult leaders, and volunteers
- Create and implement food program and menu
- Recruit, train and supervise kitchen volunteers
- Order, receive, and store food and cleaning supplies in accordance with local health standards
- Use appropriate kitchen equipment including electrical and mechanical safely to follow local health standards
- Prepare and serve tasty meals and snacks based on menu in sufficient quantity, honoring allergies/dietary needs, minimizing waste, and prioritizing local, organic, fair-trade foods when possible
- Monitor cleanliness of dishes, food contact surfaces, and kitchen area
- Log fridge and freezer temperatures and monitor dishwashers by logging the dishwasher temperature
- Work to build a hospitable environment for Agape groups
- Support additional aspects of the Agape program as needed such as Food Bank, food distribution, and spring planning efforts
