Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain it
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background verification
- Strong customer service skills
- Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills
- Basic mathematics knowledge
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Ability to operate delicatessen equipment per company guidelines
- Competence with computer applications used in department operations
- Food safety certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire
Job Qualifications
- Diploma of high school or equivalent
- Minimum 1 - 5 years experience in supervision
- Ability to operate delicatessen equipment such as slicers, fryers, ovens, scales, cutters, and price guns
- Strong customer service skills
- Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills
- Basic mathematics knowledge
- Competence with computer applications used in department operations
- Food safety certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire
- Fluent or preferred bilingual in English and Spanish
Job Duties
- Administers daily operations of the delicatessen department
- Increases customer trust and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions
- Offers fresh and attractive products, courteous, knowledgeable, and quick service
- Executes marketing plans as described in departmental planners, toolkits, or event packages considering marketing standards, product levels, losses, and sales trends
- Supervises, trains, and develops team members and provides training as needed
- Values diversity and supports an inclusive environment by accepting the team’s backgrounds and experiences
- Balances physical work, delegation, team building, leadership, planning, and administrative tasks
- Creates an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated
- Ensures the department is merchandised according to plan and maintains stock conditions
- Offers product samples, answers product questions, and offers assistance to find or suggest product selection
- Ensures compliance with legal, company, and safety standards
- Completes daily and weekly administrative tasks such as communications, online training, scheduling, price changes, and ordering
- Maintains inventory condition knowledge and reports discrepancies
- Reviews and inspects product quality and freshness
- Plans, organizes, and conducts inventory processes
- Ensures product temperature compliance and documents temperature records
- Markets the department to maximize sales and minimize losses
- Uses production planning tools accurately and follows discard or markdown procedures
- Enforces safety programs and reports unsafe conditions
- Notifies management of customer or employee accidents and reports security risks
- Cultivates a culture of safety and ensures all associates are trained and equipped with personal protective equipment
- Reports and helps remediate safety hazards
- Performs other related duties as assigned
