Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- proficiency in English speaking, reading and writing
- basic math skills and ability to analyze digital and analog thermometers
- ability to follow directions
- neat in appearance and compliant with HUDS dress code
- must be able to lift 50 lbs without restrictions
- ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and handle physical tasks continuously
- ability to push, pull, bend, ascend and descend stairs and ladders frequently
- occasional ability to climb, squat, sit and kneel
- must maintain current certifications as required
- must attend assigned trainings
- comply with all regulatory sanitation standards
- comply with food employee illness policies
- pass pre-employment screenings including identity verification, criminal background check, drug test, CORI and references
- work all duties onsite at Harvard or designated locations
- no visa sponsorship available
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- proficiency in English speaking, reading, and writing
- basic math skills including the ability to interpret digital and analog thermometers
- ability to follow directions
- neat appearance and compliance with HUDS dress code
- ServSafe certification within one year of employment
- at least one year of related food industry experience
- previous university food service experience preferred
- ability to work independently and collaboratively
- strong multitasking and excellent communication skills
- ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse environment
- customer service oriented
Job Duties
- Set up and maintain assigned station before, during and after meal periods
- keep serving areas supplied with clean dishware, glasses, silverware, trays and other supplies needed during meals
- monitor serving lines during meals to ensure quality and quantity match customer demand
- communicate to Supervising Manager or Person-in-Charge about food quality and supply issues
- notify food preparers of stock needs before depletion
- direct guests to safe menu options considering food allergies and intolerances
- maintain safe areas by promptly addressing spills and displaying wet floor signs
- clean and sanitize surfaces including walls, cabinets, countertops, refrigeration and freezer units
- organize and keep storage areas clean
- accurately complete sanitation and temperature logs and report corrective needs
- comply with all health and safety regulations
- recycle, empty trash and clean receptacles
- report malfunctioning equipment
- comply with food employee illness policies
- support event setup, execution and clean up
- represent HUDS professionally to all customers and guests
- attend required training and maintain certifications
- perform bus person duties including maintaining and restocking stations, cleaning soft-serve machine, sweeping and mopping floors, and sanitizing beverage equipment
- perform dishroom duties such as maintaining dishwashing chemicals, operating and cleaning dish machines, ware-washing and sanitizing surfaces, recording dish machine temperatures, cleaning floors and maintaining cleanliness of all dishroom equipment
- perform front-of-house duties including ensuring proper food labeling and garnishing, maintaining clean serving and dining areas, and replenishing napkins and condiments
