Job Requirements
- Minimum three years of P&L restaurant management experience
- five to seven years of relevant restaurant work experience
- graduation from food service management or culinary program may substitute for experience
- demonstrated team management and delegation skills
- knowledge of HMSHost standards or ability to learn rapidly
- strong communication abilities
- ability to handle multiple priorities
- understanding of safety and health standards
- willingness to work varied shifts including early mornings and evenings.
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of restaurant P&L management experience in QSR or casual dining environments
- five to seven years of overall restaurant management experience
- graduation from a food service management or culinary program may substitute for experience
- demonstrated skills in team management, delegation, and issue resolution
- knowledge of HMSHost policies, products, service standards, and operations or ability to learn quickly
- ability to communicate effectively including reading, writing, and conversing comfortably
- leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently
- understanding of health and safety regulations
- ability to work varied and rotating schedules including opening and closing shifts
- commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within the workplace.
Job Duties
- Ensure all assistant managers and staff recognize the importance of closing and opening procedures
- adopt and demonstrate defined manager behaviors that promote employee engagement
- deploy staff and resources to maximize profitability and accept P&L responsibility
- assign work tasks, prepare schedules, and ensure shifts are covered
- provide consistent support, coaching and encouragement to achieve business goals
- interview job candidates and make hiring, termination, promotion, and status change decisions
- promote HMSHost as an employer of choice and ensure diversity and inclusion philosophies are executed
- oversee onboarding and offboarding processes including compliance with badging and training
- read and understand financial and operational data to monitor progress and assign associates accordingly
- recognize staff contributions and utilize company recognition initiatives
- train and champion employee engagement behaviors
- maintain current contact information for all associates
- ensure daily orders and inventory levels are adequate and teach associates ordering procedures
- oversee receiving goods, processing invoices, and resolve supply chain issues
- maintain proficiency in management information systems and schedule equipment maintenance
- manage company responses to audits such as NSF
- minimize waste and participate in food donation programs
- assess skill levels and coordinate training activities
- embrace and promote new technologies
- maintain knowledge of brand standards, CBAs, leases, and labor relations policies
- develop and implement strategies to increase revenue
- manage day-to-day activities and resolve customer and associate issues
- utilize associates’ strengths and provide feedback on development goals
- implement marketing programs and comply with promotional activities
- maintain understanding of all sanitary, safety, and health standards
- hold managers and staff accountable for safety compliance
- train managers and associates in wellness and COVID-19 protocols
- perform health and safety activities specified in the Manager’s Guide
- work varied schedules including opening, peak, and closing shifts
- report to Director of Operations or area leader
- manage a complex QSR or casual dining restaurant or cluster with sales exceeding $4M annually.
