Job Requirements

  • 6 years progressive experience in hotel or related field
  • 4-year college degree with relevant experience
  • 2-year college degree with related experience
  • Physical ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally
  • Maintain warm, friendly demeanor
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to listen and clarify concerns

Job Qualifications

  • At least 6 years progressive experience in hotel or related field
  • Or 4-year college degree with 4 to 5 years related experience
  • Or 2-year college degree with 5 to 6 years related experience
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills at all levels
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify employee and guest concerns
  • Strong multitasking and departmental prioritization skills
  • Attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented approach
  • Attendance and participation in all required meetings and trainings
  • Ability to provide Manager on Duty coverage
  • Maintain regular attendance per Highgate standards

Job Duties

  • Tour operating departments daily and make necessary adjustments via department heads
  • Conduct weekly staff and training meetings according to Highgate Hotel standards
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs timely
  • Hold monthly financial reviews with department managers and supervisors
  • Ensure department heads maintain budgeted productivity and accounting procedures
  • Develop managers through competency and corporate training programs
  • Collaborate with Director of Sales for daily prospecting and account calls
  • Participate in hotel sales efforts including client calls and hosting events
  • Provide required Manager on Duty coverage as scheduled
  • Monitor development of management trainees
  • Adhere to and train new managers on hotel policies and procedures
  • Assist in the budget process as required
  • Ensure training compliance in all departments
  • Foster a positive, guest-focused team environment
  • Inspect rooms weekly with Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer
  • Ensure timely processing of invoices
  • Submit financial documents to Corporate Office monthly
  • Maintain physical property cleanliness and maintenance
  • Encourage attentive, friendly, and courteous employee interactions
  • Forecast hotel financial positions monthly
  • Conduct management interviews and ensure hiring compliance
  • Interview final candidates for management positions
  • Perform performance appraisals and ensure standards compliance
  • Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline management staff
  • Perform duties requested by Vice President or Regional Director of Operations
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees
  • Meet clients and potential clients on the property
  • Greet guests during peak times
  • Manage hotel safe procedures and audits
  • Conduct monthly credit meetings and manage credit policies
  • Complete corporate training and attain certification
  • Ensure scheduled meetings occur on property
