Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in Business, Hotel/Restaurant Management, or Culinary institution
  • Minimum four years in high-volume multi-unit food service
  • At least two years supervisory experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy and financial skills
  • Food Handler's certificate preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • Ability to calculate discounts, portions, and percentages
  • Manual dexterity with kitchen equipment
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Schedule flexibility to work varied shifts
  • Compliance with employment, safety, and health regulations
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Good organizational and management skills

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Business, Hotel/Restaurant Management, or Culinary Arts
  • Four years of experience in high-volume, multi-unit food service operations
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications and financial skills
  • Proven leadership and organizational abilities
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and allergen management
  • Ability to conduct culinary presentations and staff training
  • Familiarity with current food trends and innovative cooking methods
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Job Duties

  • Manage and develop operations staff including hiring, terminating, and disciplining employees
  • Set work priorities, conduct staff meetings, coordinate training, and evaluate performance
  • Assist in preparing financial projections and forecasts for new projects
  • Work with the executive chef to ensure quality procedures and guidelines
  • Develop and implement new menu items to meet customer needs and profitability goals
  • Perform culinary presentations and workshops for groups
  • Direct daily preparation of standard and gourmet food items
  • Resolve customer complaints to ensure satisfaction
  • Monitor compliance with inspections, handling, and storage of inventories
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate managerial and part-time staff
  • Maintain schedule flexibility to work different shifts as needed
  • Establish and maintain food quality, production, and cost control standards
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and university personnel
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable laws
  • Perform other duties as assigned
