Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • one to three years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English
  • ability to write simple correspondence in English
  • knowledge of HT Internet software, email, inventory software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software
  • physical ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms
  • ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds regularly and up to 60 pounds occasionally
  • ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch occasionally
  • ability to work under wet and/or humid conditions and around moving mechanical parts
  • willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards

  • completion of company training including new hire orientation, customer service network, safety, food safety, and department manager training

Job Duties

  • Assist to manage and supervise up to 80 associates in the Fresh Foods Department
  • assist the Department Manager with the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department
  • carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Harris Teeter's policies and standards
  • perform duties of baker, fryer, cake decorator, Fresh Foods clerks, and chef
  • interview and train associates
  • plan, assign, and direct work
  • assist in appraising performance
  • reward and discipline associates
  • address complaints and resolve problems
