Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one to three years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English
- ability to write simple correspondence in English
- knowledge of HT Internet software, email, inventory software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software
- physical ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms
- ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds regularly and up to 60 pounds occasionally
- ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch occasionally
- ability to work under wet and/or humid conditions and around moving mechanical parts
- willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards

- completion of company training including new hire orientation, customer service network, safety, food safety, and department manager training
Job Duties
- Assist to manage and supervise up to 80 associates in the Fresh Foods Department
- assist the Department Manager with the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department
- carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Harris Teeter's policies and standards
- perform duties of baker, fryer, cake decorator, Fresh Foods clerks, and chef
- interview and train associates
- plan, assign, and direct work
- assist in appraising performance
- reward and discipline associates
- address complaints and resolve problems
