  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to three months related experience and/or training
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Effective presentation skills in one-on-one and small group situations with customers, clients, and team members

Job Duties

  • Greet and register guests
  • Assign rooms to guests
  • Issue room keys and provide escort instructions to Bellhop
  • Date stamp, sort, and rack incoming mail and messages
  • Transmit and receive telephone messages
  • Answer inquiries about hotel services, guest registration, dining, entertainment, and travel directions
  • Keep records of room availability and guest accounts
  • Compute bills, collect payments, and make change
  • Make and confirm reservations
  • Post charges including room, food, liquor, and telephone to guest ledgers
  • Arrange restaurant, transportation, or entertainment reservations and tours
  • Assist guests with depositing valuables in hotel safe or safe deposit box
  • Perform nightly bucket checks
  • Listen and resolve guest problems
