Job Requirements

  • Considerable skill in the use of a calculator to prepare moderately complex mathematical calculations without error
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers with patience, tact, and diplomacy
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the front office continuously
  • Ability to read, listen, and communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system
  • Hearing and visual ability to detect signs of emergencies
  • Education equivalent to high school graduation or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Meet minimum bonding standards
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance

Job Duties

  • Greet customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome
  • Complete the registration process through computer systems input and retrieval, confirming guest details and room rates
  • Code electronic keys and provide welcome folders with keys and necessary information
  • Verify and imprint credit cards for authorization, handle cash and balance house bank, record various forms of payments
  • Promptly answer telephones, input and communicate messages
  • Close guest accounts accurately at check-out, ascertain guest satisfaction and negotiate compromises if needed
  • Field guest complaints, research solutions, and maintain calm during emergencies and busy periods
  • Summon bell assistance to escort guests
  • Provide safe deposit box services
  • Operate facsimile machine and photocopier
  • File and retrieve registration cards
  • Provide emergency safety instructions
  • Maintain familiarity with hotel property functions
  • Assist PBX operators or reservations agents as needed
