UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge is a distinctive Southern California meeting and retreat destination nestled in the serene San Bernardino Mountains, surrounded by tall pines and located on the peaceful shores of Lake Arrowhead. Spanning 50 acres, the lodge offers a unique combination of natural beauty and functional meeting spaces, accommodating groups from September through mid-June. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older
  • Must possess, upon hire, and maintain a valid CA noncommercial Class C License
  • Must have TIPS California Responsible Beverage Server Certification
  • Must have professional bartending training certificate
  • Ability to engage with diverse populations in a respectful and culturally responsive manner
  • Ability to remain calm in the face of adversity such as customer dissatisfaction
  • Ability to sufficiently communicate in written and verbal English
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating workload
  • Expert knowledge of alcoholic beverages and garnishes including beer, wine, and spirits
  • Advanced knowledge of correct serving practices and beverage industry standards
  • Demonstrated skill using blenders, mixers, muddlers, corkscrews, bottle openers, and other bartender hand tools
  • Ability to comply with safety and sanitation standards and procedures for food and alcohol storage, production, and service
  • Math skills sufficient to properly adhere to production and customer payment transactions
  • Skill in positive guest and team interactions in a high-volume public setting
  • Must be available to work varying schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Must pass a satisfactory background check and Live Scan background check
  • Must pass a satisfactory pre-placement physical examination
  • Subject to California DMV Pull Notice System and must maintain satisfactory driving record
  • Must be 18 years or older to be hired

Job Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in customer service
  • 1+ years experience in a hotel environment preferred
  • Ability to engage with diverse populations in a respectful and culturally responsive manner
  • Ability to remain calm in the face of adversity, such as customer dissatisfaction
  • Ability to sufficiently communicate in written and verbal English to receive work assignments and share information with supervisors and colleagues
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with a fluctuating workload
  • Expert knowledge of alcoholic beverages and garnishes including beer, wine, and spirits
  • Advanced knowledge of correct serving practices and beverage industry standards
  • Demonstrated skill using blenders, mixers, muddlers, corkscrews, bottle openers, and other bartender hand tools
  • Ability to comply with safety and sanitation standards and procedures for food and alcohol storage, production, and service
  • Math skills sufficient to properly adhere to production and customer payment transactions
  • Skill in interacting with guests, team members, and managers in a high-volume public setting using positive body language, direct eye contact, active listening, and a friendly and professional demeanor
  • Working knowledge of basic culinary techniques, terminology, and practices preferred
  • Must possess, upon hire, and maintain a valid CA noncommercial Class C License

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic, and coffee beverages to bar patrons, conference and restaurant guests, and event attendees
  • Make beverage recommendations and answer queries about wines, spirits, beers, coffee, and daily menu offerings
  • Craft specialty cocktails and coffee beverages utilizing proper ingredients and techniques
  • Set up, maintain, and dismantle the main bar and any temporary bars during events
  • Ensure adherence to safety and sanitation standards for food and alcohol storage, production, and service
  • Interact with guests, team members, and managers using positive body language, direct eye contact, active listening, and professionalism
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar areas to support efficient service
